Despite its inconspicuous, hidden location in a Kreuzberg courtyard, this small ramen restaurant is pretty well frequented. Is it the cozy, lush courtyard terrace? Or the friendly, courteous staff? Both the atmosphere and the service definitely invite you to linger.
The real highlight is one thing above all: the irresistibly good, homemade and fresh ramen. They are available here in all kinds of variations, such as classic shio-based, spicy TanTan ramen, or completely meatless with vegan broth. What makes the ramen here so special? First of all, there are the noodles, which are so fresh in taste and wonderfully firm to the bite in their consistency that you immediately notice: they are homemade. Next, there's the broth; just tasting it, you can taste a dense, unique spiciness - pure umami. Traditionally, the broth is prepared on the basis of chicken as well as beef or pork and simmered for hours or even days. The addition of artificial flavor enhancers is completely unnecessary during this process - the wonderfully strong flavor of the broth comes solely from this intensive, elaborate process.
Interestingly, however, it is not only the meat-based ramen dishes that are strong in flavor; the purely vegan variants also impress with their depth of flavor and perfect seasoning. We were particularly impressed by the vegan version of tonkotsu ramen: With crispy, spicy tofu, mushrooms, fresh spring onions and an extra full-bodied, strongly flavored broth, the dish is definitely one of the best meatless ramen creations currently available.
