Well hidden in the backyard of Hackesche Höfe is a little sweet tooth paradise: On just a few square meters, Guadalupe Eichner and Daniella Canal sell unmistakably creamy gelato in the eponymous Canal Berlin. The selection? Small yet sophisticated - consisting of a range of classic flavors with a little twist, such as coconut with cocoa nibs or hazelnut ice cream with roasted hazelnuts and little financier pieces.
Some time ago, when the summer and thus also the ice cream season came to an end, the two owners decided to expand their offer: since then, the delicious ice cream variations are complemented by handmade eclairs with wonderfully novel flavors such as Blueberry Lemon Meringue or Sesame Matcha. While the ice cream offer is only available in spring and summer, the eclairs are available all year round: Perfect to sweeten up a cold winter day or two. Good to know: Since 2020, there is also a second branch in the beautiful Linienstraße which is rather small as well and hence perfect for a sweet snack to take away.
