Vegan varieties are now available in almost every ice cream parlor. While most of these are rather light and fruity, Frank and Klaus from Tribeca Ice Cream prove that plant-based ice cream can be rich and creamy, too.
The flavors such as Hazelnut, Banana Pecan or Pistachio Lucuma, which we especially recommend, are based on nut milk (e.g. cashew, almond or coconut) and taste at least as smooth as classic milk ice cream. Not only milk but also refined sugar is replaced with less processed ingredients. Nonetheless one can taste a fine, delicate sweetness which is provided by natural sweeteners such as coconut blossom sugar or maple syrup.
