There are now so many great Korean restaurants in Berlin. However, only a few of them offer Korean BBQ, an absolute highlight of Korean cuisine. In addition to a vegan version at Feel Seoul Good, the Kreuzberg restaurant Ssam offers the classic BBQ with all kinds of meat variations. The great thing about Korean barbecue is that you grill it yourself. You can put your previously marinated food on the table grill and cook it just the way you like it best.
By the way, Ssam means "to wrap" and alludes to the next step: Once your grilled food is cooked through and nice and crispy, wrap the whole thing with a crunchy lettuce leaf. You can also add rice, other side dishes or one of the aromatic sauces. If, despite the wide selection of Korean BBQ plates (ranging from beef to spicy marinated pork belly to tofu), nothing appeals to you, there are still a number of Korean classics such as mandu (deep-fried dumplings) or hearty Korean pancakes (pajeon). Our personal recommendation: the bibimbap in a hot stone pot with all kinds of side dishes and fiery hot gochujang sauce.
