New openings

Coffee and cake - Argentinian style, perhaps the best sandwiches in Kreuzberg and creative cuisine and aperitivo in Charlottenburg - these three new openings are definitely worth a visit .

Romeo's - lunch spot for hearty deluxe sandwiches and lavishly topped focaccia

The sandwich trend in Berlin is entering the next round: Romeo's is now the place to go for toasted melt sandwiches with sourdough bread and lavishly topped focaccia sandwiches. Our recommendation: the "Mushroom Melt" (an absolute highlight!) and the "Vegan Szechuan" with spicy tofu and cucumber. Good to know: The prices are rather high in relation to the size of the portions.

AURA

From breakfast to lunch and aperitifs, you can start your day (or evening) in style at Aura. A glance at the menu reveals that creativity and innovative flavors and combinations are definitely the focus here. From beetroot bruschetta with tahini, wasabi and pomegranate molasses to eggplant baklava and sour cream crèpe, there are few classics, but all the more innovative creations with that certain something.

Merienda Haus - Berlin's first Argentinian bakery

The newly opened Merienda Haus not far from Akazienkiez promises a little piece of Argentina in Berlin. Specifically, this means comfort food in the form of buttery pastries. There are medialunas (Argentinian croissants) with various fillings, alfajores (double cookies, traditionally filled with dulce de leche), a variety of cakes and tarts, as well as savory items such as sandwiches and chipas. Perfect for a quick breakfast or the eponymous merienda (afternoon snack).

Recommendations of the month

In the morning - Greens Cafe

In the Neukölln café "Greens", the name says it all: Numerous plants with macramé decorations adorn both the counter and the cozy café area at the back. Otherwise, warm, earthy tones, lots of wood and light, natural materials dominate. In terms of food, there is a great selection of sumptuous sandwiches, delicious pastries and homemade cakes.

The range is often characterized by seasonal ingredients and therefore always has new creations and surprises in store depending on the time of year. The homemade lemonades with great combinations such as lemon-thyme, orange-lavender or basil also provide an extra kick of freshness.

Lunch - The café in the garden academy

Coffee & cake meets garden art: welcome to the café in the Garden Academy - a place where you can relax with delicious pastries surrounded by greenery . The café is part of the Royal Garden Academy, where everything revolves around gardening and design. On the grounds you will find a wide selection of roses, shrubs, trees and herbs for your garden or balcony. After a tour of the grounds, the small, cozy café with its glazed indoor area and extensive garden will entice you in.

What can you expect here? The café at the Garden Academy is mainly regional & seasonal in nature. If you come during the morning hours, you can enjoy a French breakfast or the sumptuous garden tagere. In summer, for example, a Tuscan bread salad is served, prepared with fresh herbs and vegetables from the garden. Tea lovers are also catered for: in addition to a classic afternoon tea including scones and cucumber sandwiches, there is a selection of exquisite teas such as Blue Earl Grey or Persian Apple with fruity citrus notes.

Evening - Ryong

At Ryong, Vietnamese and occasionally Japanese influences come together. The combinations are sometimes a little unusual, but always successful and refreshingly different. For starters, there is avocado wrapped in spinach and tempura with lemongrass, for example, and a house classic is the fresh, homemade spelt noodles in combination with a hearty broth and various toppings.

The menu continues with fresh wraps, warming phos and juicy bao burgers. The popular yeast dough buns are homemade here and, coated in a fine tempura crust, are crispy on the outside and wonderfully fluffy on the inside.
